What's Involved in Becoming an Adoptive Parent

We can send you a further information pack and application form if you call us on 0800 652 127.

The initial home visit is the start of the process of becoming an adoptive parent. Following the visit we will tell you whether we think that you are suitable for us to assess as an adopter for the Partners in Adoption agency. We aim to complete assessments within 8 months from formal application, but if this is not possible, you will be notified in writing of the reasons for the delay.

Included in the information pack, is a request form for an initial visit from one of the Adoption Team. Once we receive a request for an initial visit, a social worker will contact you to arrange to visit  you at home. We commit to contacting those people who have requested an initial visit within 5 days of the request.  The initial visit allows us to see you and your family and hopefully to answer more personal questions that you may have. They will ask you to complete several forms relating to Health and Police checks to allow us to begin our statutory checks.
