Supporting You

We believe that a high level of support to our adopters is a prerequisite to successful outcomes, when caring for children and young people. Such support is generally welcomed by our adopters and enables us to address the needs of the children and of the adoptive family promptly and appropriately. Such a response helps to reduce the risk of placement disruption and breakdown. The demands on adopters can be considerable and we believe that this should be reflected in the support provided.

Approved adopters are  allocated an adoption  social worker  who will respond to any needs identified by those for whom they hold linking responsibility. The minimum level of support provided for our adopters includes regular telephone calls and home visits. In addition, adopters are encouraged to contact the office at any time the need arises. A post approval and adoption support group meets on a regular basis and a duty officer is available during working hours to offer advice and support as required. Adopters also have access to an out of hours phone line staffed by members of the Fostering and Adoption Team.
